-- Marching To Kashgar --

The way this was written was to build it from the Shamisen part, which I wrote as a  looped measure and got intrigued with.  

There was something so Sino-Russian that I named it for that very exotic place in Westernmost China on the "Silk Road;"

  Kashgar, which is predominantly  muslim, even though it's in China.  These are Russians marching to Kashgar, I think...

playing loudly as if they were Chinese, doing strings much as Russians do, heavy beat, almost like Balinese, and the

shamisen's ostinato flavors the whole soup with a taste of its native land, Japan.  These Russians have been around the block.
