-- The Natives Are Restless --

A cliche line from the "jungle" movies, fifty-plus years ago, serves as the title for this one. They always said the natives were restless when they could hear drums, and drumming is the centre of this one. Listen for the "giant fork," meant to represent a bass tuning fork with tines about four feet long, actually constructed by using "koto" and "kalimba" patches together, transposed downward into the bass frequencies until they're way out of range. A "synth drum" patch in the same range fills in for the hollow log slit drum which answers the giant fork. It's jazz, folks.
