This is the string quartet version, modified in places to take advantage of the way strings sound.     It's still not free

of  Arabian influence, but it nevertheless sounds a lot less mid-eastern.   One might guess it was from Budapest,

but it doesn't quite fit that.   Perhaps it could have come from some sort of avant-garde Spanish composer with

a taste for the Moorish legacy in Spanish music, I don't quite know.   The hard fact, though, is that it was

written by an American composer in Skamania county, Washington who happens to like music like this.
